North East Students' Organization (NESO) Shows Solidarity with Manipur Communities.
The 18-member delegation includes representatives from student unions like All Assam Students Union (AASU), Khasi Students Union (KSU), All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU), Tripura Students Federation (TSF), Naga Students Federation (NSF), Garo Students Union (GSU), and All Manipur Students Union (AMSU).
NESO Chairman Samuel Jyrwa stated that their visit's primary objective is to promote peace and harmony among the diverse communities that have coexisted in Manipur for generations. The organization is deeply concerned about the situation in Manipur and seeks to offer its solidarity and support to the affected people.
AASU Chief Adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya, part of the delegation, emphasized that NESO aims to convey a message of peace and harmony to the indigenous people of Manipur. The team intends to engage with civil society groups representing both the Meitei and Kuki communities to address their concerns and work towards resolution.
During their visit, the NESO team will also visit the relief camps in the hills and valley, where displaced people are seeking shelter. The team has plans to meet with Governor Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister N Biren Singh to discuss the situation and explore ways to bring stability and reconciliation to the region.
