Meghalaya Authorities Detain 11 for Alleged Links to NLCN
The arrest tally surged to 11 as three more individuals found themselves in custody on August 18, suspected of having connections with the recently emerged militant faction, the National Liberation Council of Nongkyndong (NLCN).

These apprehended suspects were promptly brought before the district court on August 18 afternoon, and subsequent to legal proceedings, have been remanded to police custody for a period of 10 days.

A day earlier, four residents of Jaintia Hills District were also detained on August 17 on suspicion of involvement with the nascent militant organization, NLCN. Notably, one of them currently resides in the Civil Hospital due to a deteriorating health condition.

The extensive operation aimed at suppressing this emerging militant outfit was initiated last Wednesday, culminating in the apprehension of seven individuals. Among those apprehended was a female, as well as a juvenile. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the young class 10 student is purportedly the "Chairman" of the alleged terror group.

Authorities are diligently continuing their interrogations of all the detained individuals to uncover the motives and intentions behind the formation of the NLCN.

It's worth noting that this operation and subsequent arrests are part of a larger effort by law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and security in the region in the face of new challenges posed by emerging militant groups.
