Key Arrest Made as Assam Police Shut Down Guwahati's Counterfeit Currency Network.
According to a senior police official, a well-planned operation took place in the Lokhra area on Friday night. The operation resulted in the discovery and seizure of a sophisticated counterfeit currency printing machine, which is a significant step in their efforts to combat the production of fake money.
The recovered counterfeit currency notes have been valued at around Rs 8 lakhs, indicating the substantial size of the operation and the potential harm it could have caused to the economy.
The person arrested in connection with this illegal enterprise has been identified as Mannan Mallik, from Barpeta district. This arrest is an important breakthrough in the ongoing investigation, as authorities work to uncover the entire network behind this operation.
This development follows previous arrests related to the counterfeit currency printing ring. Before this incident, six individuals were taken into custody for their suspected involvement in the illegal activity. They were found in possession of fake currency notes amounting to Rs 15 lakhs.
Crucially, the arrest of Mannan Mallik was made possible through information gathered from the questioning of the previously apprehended suspects. This sequence of events highlights the commitment of law enforcement in their relentless pursuit of those who undermine the country's financial integrity. As the investigation continues, authorities are focused on dismantling the entire counterfeit currency network and ensuring justice is served for all those involved.
