Assam DGP GP Singh Among 14 IPS Officers Empanelled for Central Roles
GP Singh IPS: A Key Addition to the Government's Administrative Arsenal

New Delhi: In a strategic move that underscores the government's commitment to deploying experienced and capable professionals for central administrative roles, the empanelment of IPS officers for key posts at the Centre was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on August 7. Among the notable appointments is Mr. GP Singh, an accomplished 1991-batch IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

Mr. GP Singh's impressive track record and extensive experience have earned him the honor of being empanelled for holding posts at the prestigious level of DG/DG Eq. within the Government of India. Currently serving as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam Police, Mr. Singh brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise that is expected to contribute significantly to the central administration's operations.

Taking charge as the Assam DGP on January 31 of this year, Mr. Singh assumed the mantle from Mr. Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, who was retiring at the end of his tenure. Expressing gratitude to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Mr. Singh conveyed his eagerness to serve the people of the state in his new capacity.

Mr. Singh's professional journey is marked by significant achievements and contributions to law enforcement and public safety. With a remarkable six-year stint at the National Investigation Agency (NIA), he has been involved in investigating various complex cases. His expertise extends across diverse regions, having worked for over 18 years in multiple parts of the Northeast, including Assam.

It is noteworthy that Mr. Singh's dedication and capabilities prompted his reassignment to his parent cadre when the law and order situation in Assam required focused attention. During his tenure with the NIA, he played a pivotal role in handling several militancy-related cases across Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeastern region, and Punjab. Furthermore, his involvement in critical NIA cases in Kashmir, such as the terror funding case, further underscores his commitment to national security and stability.

The empanelment of Mr. GP Singh, alongside 13 other distinguished IPS officers, marks a pivotal step in reinforcing the government's administrative machinery. The collective expertise of these officers is anticipated to yield positive outcomes for policy formulation, security enhancement, and inter-departmental coordination.

As the nation strives for growth and stability, the government's decision to tap into the expertise of seasoned professionals like Mr. Singh is a testament to its resolve to uphold effective governance and public welfare.
