In a significant development aimed at benefitting millions of depositors, Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah introduced the 'CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal' on Tuesday. The portal, available on the Ministry of Cooperation's website, is set to facilitate the disbursement of up to Rs 5000 crore to Sahara Group depositors. This initiative comes as a relief to over 10 crore individuals who have been awaiting the return of their investments stuck in the cooperative societies of Sahara Group.

Refund Amount and Phases:

During the initial phase, the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal is slated to distribute Rs 5000 crore to the deserving depositors. However, it is essential to note that each depositor will be eligible to claim a maximum of Rs 10,000 during this first phase. This move aims to ensure fair distribution and provide an opportunity for more individuals to receive their refunds promptly.

Swift and Time-Bound Process:

Minister Amit Shah expressed his optimism about the efficiency of the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal, assuring depositors that they would receive their refunds within 45 days from the date of registration on the portal. This time-bound process seeks to expedite the return of funds and alleviate financial burdens on the depositors who have waited for a considerable period.
