TIPRA Motha Chairman Resigns: BK Hrangkhwal Takes the Helm
Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma Steps Down: TIPRA Motha Undergoes Leadership Shift.
Agartala, July 17, 2023: A major development has taken place in the political arena as Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the Chairman of TIPRA Motha, has decided to step down from his position. This decision comes in response to the party's new constitution, which grants extensive powers to the President of the Party. As a result, BK Hrangkhwal will now assume the role of the party's president, taking on the newly empowered position.

In a short message, Debbarma expressed his dedication to the party and announced his willingness to continue serving as a regular member. He also appealed to the party's supporters to put an end to internal conflicts, aiming to streamline the organization and address any discontent within.

During the first plenary session of the party at Khumulwng motor-stand ground, Debbarma raised concerns about efforts to undermine the unity of their party. He mentioned instances where certain MLAs and MDCs had been enticed with monetary incentives, while local people were lured into joining the ruling party with promises of benefits like MGNREGA work and jobs. Despite witnessing some members leaving the party, he stressed the importance of maintaining a united front for the sake of the Greater Tipraland demand.

Debbarma also criticized the prevailing syndicate Raj and contractor culture in the TTAADC administration. He emphasized the need to eradicate corruption from the region and called out contractors from the Tiprasa community for deceiving their own people, stating that such practices were contrary to the true essence of Tiprasa culture. Drawing parallels with the delimitation in Assam, he highlighted that the demand for Greater Tipraland is about securing the future of their community. He expressed his frustration with the discrimination faced when Tiprasa voices their demands, which are often discredited in mainstream discourse, while similar ideas from others are praised.

Directing a message to Muslim voters in the state, Debbarma urged them to reconsider their stance and seek support from TIPRA Citizenship Federation. He pointed out that previous political parties had won their votes during elections but failed to stand by them afterward. He pledged that his party would be different and committed to supporting their needs.

This political development signifies a significant change in TIPRA Motha's leadership structure and opens up new possibilities for the party's direction and goals, particularly regarding the demand for Greater Tipraland and inclusive representation for all communities.
