Tinsukia, 7 July 2023 - In a groundbreaking development, the Tinsukia Police has scored a significant win today by apprehending four women and confiscating a substantial quantity of heroin weighing 300 grams. The estimated street value of the seized contraband is approximately Rs 60 lakh.
The operation unfolded at a newly established railway junction in the district and was executed by the Tinsukia Sadar Police in collaboration with the Hijuguri Outpost Police team, swiftly responding to credible intelligence inputs.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Crime, Moidul Islam, shed light on the operation, revealing that the coordinated efforts of the teams led to the apprehension of four women found in possession of a significant amount of heroin, weighing 300 grams. It is believed that the arrested individuals had transported the illegal substance from Dimapur to Tinsukia via train.
Furthermore, the law enforcement officials discovered Rs 28,000 in cash and four mobile handsets at the scene, which were seized as part of the operation. The identities of the detained women have not been disclosed by the authorities, and they are currently under police custody for further investigation.
