In a real-life tale reminiscent of the Bollywood film "Nayak," Bhagyadeep Rajgarh, a 10th standard student from Deoriting Tea Estate in Sivasagar, Assam, had a remarkable opportunity to step into the shoes of a Deputy Commissioner (DC) for a day. Through the Assam Government's innovative scheme called AAROHAN, Bhagyadeep got a symbolic taste of bureaucratic responsibilities as he assumed the position of the head of the administration on July 31.
The young and talented Bhagyadeep, son of a tea garden worker, attends Bakta Barbam Higher Secondary School and was chosen for this honor from a pool of 8750 students from class IX who displayed innate talents. The Assam Cabinet introduced the AAROHAN scheme last year to identify and guide gifted students for four years, spanning from class IX to class XII. These students, hailing from various government and provincialised schools, receive mentorship from selected individuals.
The primary objective of AAROHAN is twofold - to enhance the quality of Secondary Education and to recognize and support talented students from marginalized backgrounds, residing in remote and rural areas. The scheme provides them with invaluable guidance and oversight throughout their academic journey.
As Bhagyadeep Rajgarh took over as Deputy Commissioner for a day, he not only symbolized the aspirations of numerous talented students but also brought attention to the transformative power of education in shaping the future of young minds. His story serves as an inspiration to countless others, highlighting that opportunities do exist even in the most unexpected places.
The Assam Government's AAROHAN scheme continues to be a beacon of hope for gifted students, offering them a chance to explore their potential and flourish academically. By identifying talent in regions that are often overlooked, the government is fostering a generation of capable leaders and administrators who can drive positive change in their communities and beyond.
With schemes like AAROHAN, the government's commitment to nurturing young minds and promoting inclusive education is evident. As Bhagyadeep's day as the Deputy Commissioner comes to a close, his experience will undoubtedly serve as a lasting memory and a motivation for others to strive for excellence in education and pursue their dreams relentlessly.
