Manipur: Superintendent of Police Provides Updates on Current Situation After Naked Video Goes Viral
Curfew Measures Strengthened: Five Valley Districts Under Heightened Security
In a recent press note, the Superintendent of Police, Imphal, provided crucial updates on the current state of affairs in Manipur. While the situation in the state remains peaceful, there are pockets of tension with sporadic incidents of firing and crowd gatherings in certain areas.

Regarding the disturbing incident of two women being paraded naked by unknown armed miscreants on May 4, 2023, the police have registered a case of abduction, gangrape, and murder at Nongpok Sekmai Police Station in Thoubal District. The investigation into this heinous act is underway, and the state police are leaving no stone unturned to apprehend the culprits at the earliest.

As part of security measures, both the State Police and Central forces have conducted search operations in vulnerable and fringe areas of both the valley and hill districts. During one such operation, District Police in Imphal East recovered two arms along with two magazines.

In light of the situation, curfew relaxation has been curtailed in five valley districts and Churachandpur, with strict security measures being enforced to maintain order.

A total of 126 Nakas/Checkpoints have been set up in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and valley regions. The police have detained 452 individuals in connection with violations across the state.

The public is urged to extend all possible cooperation in restoring normalcy in the state. Any rumors or misinformation should be reported to the Central Control Room at the rumor-free number - 9233522822. Additionally, a plea has been made for citizens to return and deposit any arms, ammunition, or explosives to the police or security forces immediately.

The police are committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Manipur and are working tirelessly to maintain peace in the region.
