Shocking Human Trafficking Incident: Assam Woman Sold into Unwanted Marriage in Jind, Haryana
Justice for Assam's Brave Young Woman: Police Pursue Culprits in Forced Marriage Scandal.
Guwahati, July 20, 2023: In a distressing incident that has come to light, three people from Haryana's Jind have been accused of deceiving a 22-year-old woman from Assam's Dibrugarh and forcing her into marriage under false pretenses of a job opportunity in the city. The authorities are taking swift action against the perpetrators involved in this alarming case.

As per the victim's statement to the police, she was acquainted with a woman named Laxmi from Dibrugarh, who was already married to a man named Baljeet from Jind. Laxmi took advantage of their acquaintance and convinced the young woman to come to Jind, promising to help her secure a job. However, instead of assisting her, Laxmi sold her to Kavita, who is the wife of Harinivas from Shivalik Colony, for Rs 25,000.

On June 3, Kavita forcibly married the victim to a man known as Sandeep or Kala. Feeling trapped in an undesirable marriage, the young woman showed immense courage and managed to escape the situation. She sought immediate help from the local police, who responded promptly by registering a case based on her complaint.

The investigating officer, Deepak, revealed that the police have filed charges against Laxmi, Kavita, and Sandeep, which include abduction, human trafficking, and other related offenses. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served for the victim.

This case has raised serious concerns about the safety and vulnerability of individuals, particularly women, who are enticed into unfamiliar places with false promises. The police are fully committed to uncovering the truth and taking appropriate action against those responsible for perpetrating such heinous crimes.
