French President Emmanuel Macron recognizes PM Modi's exceptional contributions

In a momentous occasion highlighting the strong ties between France and India, French President Emmanuel Macron has announced the conferral of the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor upon Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This prestigious honor, which represents the highest recognition in French military and civilian orders, will make PM Modi the first Indian Prime Minister to receive this esteemed award.
The Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor holds tremendous significance and is traditionally bestowed upon select global leaders and prominent individuals who have made extraordinary contributions in their respective fields. Among the notable recipients of this honor in the past are renowned figures such as Nelson Mandela, the former President of South Africa, King Charles (then Prince of Wales), Angela Merkel, the former Chancellor of Germany, and Boutros Boutros-Ghali, the former Secretary General of the United Nations.
The recognition by France adds yet another illustrious accolade to PM Modi's impressive list of international awards and honors. In 2018, he was conferred the Seoul Peace Prize in recognition of his dedication to improving international cooperation, raising global economic growth, accelerating human development in India, and furthering the development of democracy through anti-corruption and social integration efforts. In addition, PM Modi was conferred with "The Companion of the Order of Fiji" by his Fijian counterpart, Sitiveni Rabuka, for his exceptional global leadership. This rare honor was bestowed upon PM Modi as a non-Fijian, further underlining his international recognition.
