The Department of School Education (DoSE) in Nagaland has initiated a remarkable step to boost productivity and accountability among government school teachers. By leveraging cutting-edge geo-positioning and artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the department aims to track teacher attendance effectively, ultimately improving the quality of education for students.

Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, the Advisor for School Education, unveiled this innovative initiative during his visit to Akhakhu village in Zunheboto district. Emphasizing the significance of utilizing technology for monitoring teacher attendance, Dr. Yhome highlighted the real-time data provided by the AI-based system. With this data, authorities can promptly assess teacher presence within the school compound and take necessary actions as needed.

The implementation of this system is part of the broader efforts by the department to assess teacher performance across the state. While Dr. Yhome conducts a two-day inspection of government schools in Zunheboto district, the department is simultaneously evaluating all teachers under its purview. The goal is to identify areas for improvement and ensure that teachers are fulfilling their responsibilities to the best of their abilities.
