Efforts to Rehabilitate Guwahati's Homeless Underway
Guwahati:  Responding to the directives of HCM Dr. Himanta Biswa, a task force has been established to provide relief and rehabilitation to the street dwellers in the city. The team has successfully rescued and relocated a total of 45 individuals since June 27.
Taking charge of the initiative, the District Collector of Kamrup (M) formed a district level committee comprising 11 members. This committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of identifying and relocating homeless individuals to suitable shelter homes.

As of July 2, the committee has relocated 41 males, 2 females, and 2 children, bringing the total to 45. These individuals have been provided shelter at different locations across the city. The Eastern Peoples Community Participation center accommodates 21 individuals, while Childline has provided shelter to one person. Additionally, ICCW has housed 5 individuals, NEVARD has accommodated 14, and 4 individuals are receiving treatment at GMCH.
The efforts to rehabilitate Guwahati's homeless population demonstrate a compassionate approach to ensure their well-being. The task force remains committed to its ongoing efforts and will continue working towards providing care and support to the underprivileged in the city.
