Illegal Border Crossing: Chinese Nationals Apprehended in Bihar, India.
The individuals, identified as Zhao Jing and Fu Cong from Jiangxi, a province in east China, were taken into custody near the Indian customs office at 8.45 pm on Saturday while attempting to cross the border without valid documents.
As of now, the motive behind their entry into India remains unclear. East Champaran superintendent of police, Kantesh Kumar Mishra, stated that their intentions are yet to be established and they are currently undergoing interrogation.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the duo claimed to have left their passports in a hotel in Birgunj, Nepal. Additionally, it came to light that this was not their first attempt to cross the border illegally. On July 2 of the same year, they were apprehended, given a warning, and advised against entering Indian territory without a visa. However, they made another unsuccessful attempt, leading to their subsequent arrest.
The porous nature of the Nepal-India border at Raxaul has been a recurring issue, with several incidents involving Chinese nationals and other tourists who visit Nepal getting caught without proper documentation. Often, these incidents occur due to a lack of understanding about the demarcation of the Nepal border. While official checkposts with security personnel are designated for legal crossings, many inadvertent crossings happen through unofficial routes, resulting in suspicion and subsequent police actions.
Authorities continue to investigate the motives behind Zhao Jing and Fu Cong's illegal entry into India, and further actions will be taken based on the outcomes of the ongoing interrogation. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to proper immigration procedures and respecting international borders to maintain security and order.
