Assam Police's Massive Drug Bust Seizes Narcotics Worth Rs 45 Crore
Assam Police's Successful Drug Bust Ensures Safer Communities.
In a major operation on July 25, 2023, Assam Police achieved a significant victory against drug trafficking in the Cachar district. The operation led to the arrest of three drug peddlers and the seizure of narcotics valued at an astounding Rs 45 crore.

The successful operation was carried out by a team of dedicated officers from the Special Task Force (STF) near Silchar. During the operation, the police conducted a thorough search of a vehicle and made an unexpected discovery. Hidden cleverly in the car's bonnet were 90 plastic sachets containing a white powdery substance, suspected to be heroin, weighing approximately 2.5 kg. Additionally, a substantial quantity of around 1 lakh yaba tablets was also found in the same vehicle.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Manwar Hussain Barbhuiya, Sadar Uddin, and Ansar Alam, all from the Kalain area of the district.

While the operation was mostly successful, it faced a moment of tension when one of the suspects, Barbhuiya, attempted to escape custody during the transportation process. Seizing a moment during a stop, he made a run for it under the cover of darkness. The police responded swiftly by firing two warning shots in an effort to stop him. Unfortunately, one of the shots accidentally hit Barbhuiya in the left leg, causing an injury. He was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Cachar district SP, Numal Mahatta, confirmed the operation's success and the substantial recovery of narcotics valued at Rs 45 crore. The arrested suspects are now in custody and will face charges related to drug trafficking and possession.

This remarkable drug bust is a testament to the unwavering determination of Assam Police to combat drug-related issues and safeguard society from the detrimental effects of narcotics. The authorities continue to be vigilant in their pursuit of a drug-free state, ensuring that those involved in such illegal activities face the full force of the law. This resolute commitment sends a strong message to drug peddlers and reinforces the importance of a collective effort to create safer communities for everyone.
