Guwahati, July 20, 2023: In recent developments, the Assam Police have scored significant victories in their fight against drug trafficking in the state. A series of successful anti-narcotic operations have led to the seizure of illegal substances and the arrest of several individuals involved in the illicit trade.
One notable operation took place in Karimganj district, where a team from Nilambazar police station executed a successful raid, resulting in the confiscation of 33.5 kilograms of cannabis. This commendable effort comes right on the heels of another operation conducted by Karimganj police, during which they seized 1 lakh pieces of YABA tablets, weighing 10.5 kilograms, and arrested three suspects.
The authorities have been relentless in their pursuit of curbing illegal drug activities in the region, and their efforts have yielded positive results. The joint operation between Ambassa police station and Radhanagar Battalion of Agartala Sector Assam Rifles in Tripura's Dhalai district resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of marijuana worth around Rs 41 lakh. During this operation, two individuals were apprehended, and a light motor vehicle was also seized.
In yet another successful operation, the Radhanagar Battalion of Agartala Sector Assam Rifles, in coordination with Jirighat Police Station, arrested an individual in Cachar District of Assam, confiscating 88.05 grams of heroin valued at approximately Rs 35 lakhs.
