Assam Chief Minister Supports Indigenous & Tribal Faiths with Generous Grants
Financial Boost for Assam's Indigenous & Tribal Communities: Chief Minister's Grant-in-Aid Announcement.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken significant steps to support and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the state's indigenous and tribal communities. In a recent announcement, the Chief Minister allocated grants to various organizations and places of worship dedicated to indigenous and tribal faiths. The grants aim to ensure the sustainability and diversity of Assam's cultural fabric.

Under this initiative, a sum of ₹10 lakh has been provided to individuals and organizations actively working on issues related to tribal and indigenous communities. This financial support will assist them in carrying out their valuable work, which includes research, preservation, and promotion of tribal traditions, languages, and customs.

Additionally, 73 places of worship that hold significant importance in the indigenous and tribal faiths of Assam will receive ₹5 lakh each. These sacred sites play a crucial role in the spiritual and cultural lives of the local communities, serving as centers for religious ceremonies, rituals, and gatherings. The financial assistance will aid in the maintenance and development of these places, ensuring that they continue to be cherished and accessible to all.
Recognizing the significance of Bathou, one of the primary indigenous faiths in Assam, the Chief Minister allocated a substantial grant of ₹2 crore to the All Bathou Mahasabha. Bathou is deeply ingrained in the cultural identity of the Bodo people, one of the major indigenous communities in the region. The grant will support the activities of the All Bathou Mahasabha, which works towards the preservation and promotion of Bathou teachings, rituals, and cultural practices.

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma's initiative reflects the government's commitment to preserving and nurturing the diverse religious and cultural heritage of Assam. By providing financial aid to individuals, organizations, and places of worship dedicated to indigenous and tribal faiths, the government aims to ensure the continuity and vitality of these invaluable traditions. This endeavor not only strengthens the social fabric of Assam but also celebrates the unique contributions of its indigenous and tribal communities to the state's identity and legacy.
