Arunachal Pradesh: Former Hostel Warden Charged with Raping 21 Children
Heinous Crimes Unearthed: Former Hostel Warden Faces Trial for Raping Innocent Children.

Arunachal Pradesh, July 20, 2023: A major breakthrough has been achieved in seeking justice for the terrible crimes committed against innocent children in Arunachal Pradesh. Yumken Bagra, a former hostel warden at a government-run residential school, has been charged with raping and sexually harassing 21 children, including six boys.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Arunachal Pradesh police has been relentlessly working on the case. According to Rohit Rajbir Singh, the Superintendent of Police of SIT, Bagra is facing charges under specific sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. In connection with the case, another person named D. Pertin has been charged for harboring the accused.

This horrifying case came to light on November 1, 2022, when a man reported the sexual assault, harassment, molestation, and attempted rape of his 12-year-old twin daughters by Bagra. The incident took place while the girls were staying at the residential school.

The investigation conducted by the SIT revealed an alarming pattern of abuse that spanned from 2014 to 2022. The victims, aged between 6 to 14 years, consisted of 15 girls and six boys. The charge sheet against Bagra lists six cases of aggravated penetrative assault or rape, nine cases of molestation (including two attempted rapes), and six cases of sexual harassment.

In a disturbing revelation, the accused was found to have kept sexually explicit photos and videos on his phone, providing further evidence against him. Shockingly, Bagra also administered medicines containing antihistamine drugs to the victims before committing the crimes.

The ordeal for the young victims did not end with the abuse. Bagra reportedly threatened the children, warning them of severe consequences if they dared to speak out about the atrocities. This led to six attempted suicides by the traumatized victims.

Despite the accused being granted bail by a local court, the police are determined to ensure an expedited trial, armed with substantial evidence from the charge sheet. Authorities have pledged to provide support and protection to the victims throughout the trial. They have also called upon child welfare boards, NGOs, and civil society groups to offer moral support and assistance in aiding the victims' recovery from this traumatic experience.

The case has shocked the nation and brought attention to the urgent need to safeguard children from such horrific crimes. The collective efforts of law enforcement, support organizations, and the community are essential in ensuring justice and healing for the innocent victims who have suffered greatly.
