ACHIK Hunger Strike: Demands for Job Roster and Winter Capital Status Gain Momentum
Non-Governmental Organizations Rally for Change: ACHIK's Hunger Strike Continues.

Guwahati, July 19, 2023: The ongoing hunger strike organized by Achik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has entered its eighth day today, as demonstrators continue to demand assurances from the chief minister and his cabinet members regarding certain important issues.

ACHIK, alongside various other non-governmental organizations (NGOs), is advocating for the retroactive implementation of the job roster system and the designation of Tura as the Winter Capital.

Since the protest began, there has been no direct communication between the protesters and the authorities. However, today, Jagdish Chelani, the deputy commissioner of West Garo Hills (WGH), made an attempt to convince the demonstrators to end their protest and wait for the chief minister to address their concerns next week.

Despite the official's visit, the protesters firmly rejected the proposal, as they were expecting the chief minister's personal presence and interaction at the protest site. They are determined to continue their demonstration until they receive the desired guarantees regarding the highlighted issues.

The hunger strike has drawn attention from the public and media, as the demonstrators persist in their peaceful protest, hoping to bring about positive changes in the region. As the situation unfolds, many are watching closely to see how the state government responds to the protesters' demands in the coming days.
