MANIPUR: In the wake of the persisting communal violence in Manipur since May 3, the United Naga Council (UNC) has once again appealed to all parties involved to refrain from harassing or disturbing any members of the Naga community residing in the state. Stressing the importance of maintaining peace and harmony, the UNC issued a reminder to respect the Naga population during these challenging times.
To prevent any misinterpretation, the UNC released the names of Naga tribes that are part of the United Naga Council, emphasizing that no grave errors should be made in identifying these tribes. The constituent "tribe Hohos" of the UNC include the Anal Naga Tangpi, Aimol Tribe Union, Moyon Tribe Union (Bujuur Aangchung Puh), Chiru Union, Chothe Lim Abom, Inpui Naga Union, Kharam Union, Lamkang Naga Kver Kunpun, Liangmai Naga Council, Mao Council, Maram Naga Union, Maring Uparup Assembly, Poumai Naga Union, Rongmei Naga Council, Monsang Tribe Union (Sirti Upa Ruh), Tangkhul Naga Long, Tarao Tribe Union, Thangal Khanglong (Thangal Union), Uipo (Khoibu) Maruo Koukartou, and Zeme Naga Council.
Furthermore, the UNC also disclosed the names of Naga families residing in Langol Housing Complex, Imphal, to prevent any confusion or mistaken identity. It is crucial that these families are not mistaken for members of other communities.
