Tragic Incident in Tripura's Sabroom: Infant Dies and Four Injured in Lightning Strike
In a heartbreaking incident in Sabroom, Tripura, a one-and-a-half-month-old baby lost her life, while four others sustained serious injuries as a result of a powerful lightning strike. Heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning forced residents to remain indoors throughout the morning.
The fatal lightning strike occurred in the Bangak Tilla area of Ward No. 9, under Sabroom Nagar Panchayat. The victim, a baby girl named Anisha Dey, daughter of Rajesh Dey, tragically succumbed to the lightning strike. However, the circumstances surrounding the child's death have raised controversy as it was discovered that the family hastily cremated the child without seeking medical attention at the nearby sub-divisional hospital. This has led to questions regarding the involvement of the Asha worker and Anganwadi worker in this case.
In response to the incident, the sub-divisional administration, led by DCM Bhavesh Dewan, took immediate action. The body was exhumed from the grave and sent for a post-mortem examination at the Sabroom sub-divisional hospital. The autopsy is scheduled to be conducted on Sunday.
Another lightning incident occurred in the Hari Narayanpur area of Sabroom, where a 19-year-old resident named Rimpi Debnath suffered severe injuries at her residence. Rimpi Debnath was swiftly transported to the Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital, where she received initial medical aid before being referred to the South Tripura District Hospital for further treatment.
In addition, Motilal Majumder (62) and his wife Archana Majumder (57), residents of Vivekananda Palli Panchayat in Sabroom, were also injured in the lightning strike. They were promptly taken to the hospital and are currently receiving medical attention.
Furthermore, Basanti Debnath, a resident of Thaibung Panchayat in Sabroom, was admitted to the Sabroom sub-divisional hospital with severe injuries due to another lightning incident. Thankfully, her condition has stabilized and is reported to be normal.
Meanwhile, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Bidhan Chandra Roy, along with DCM Manoj Prabhakar Pal and DCM Ratan Das, visited the sub-divisional hospital to meet with the individuals undergoing treatment after being struck by lightning.
