Security Forces in Manipur Recover More Arms and Ammunition, Restoring Peace in Conflict-Hit Region
IMPHAL:  Security forces in Manipur made significant progress in their ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the conflict-hit region. On Tuesday, a joint operation conducted by Imphal East district police, 16 JAT, and 4 Assam Rifles resulted in the recovery of 10 firearms, 239 rounds of ammunition, and various other items related to illicit weapons manufacturing.

The operation, carried out in the Kairang area, proved successful as seven firearms and 218 rounds of ammunition were seized. Additionally, 112 empty cases of different calibers, two live rounds from a 12 Bore gun, 12 empty cartridges from a barrel, and two locally-made explosives were also discovered during the search at Serou Mamang Leikai Part-III, Molbem village.

With this recent seizure, the total number of arms recovered in Manipur has reached an impressive 1,110, along with 13,941 rounds of ammunition and 250 different types of bombs. These findings were reported by an official spokesperson, highlighting the authorities' commitment to curbing the proliferation of illegal weapons and ensuring the safety of the region's residents.

In conjunction with the recovery operations, state police and central forces have been actively conducting patrolling, flag marches, and search operations in vulnerable areas across Manipur. The efforts span both the hills and valley regions, targeting areas known for their involvement in violent activities.

To enhance security measures, 119 checkpoints have been strategically established throughout various districts in Manipur. These checkpoints serve as a deterrent against curfew violations and unauthorized movements. As a result, 403 individuals have been detained for violating curfew regulations, sending a strong message that law enforcement is serious about maintaining order and preventing any untoward incidents.

The increased vigilance at checkpoints, operating round-the-clock, has successfully prevented unwanted occurrences. Consequently, Manipur has experienced a noticeable improvement in the overall security situation, with minimal untoward incidents reported in the past 24 hours. Although tensions persist in certain areas, efforts to normalize the situation are ongoing and yielding positive results.

In parallel, strict security measures have been implemented along National Highway 37 to facilitate the smooth movement of essential goods. Security convoys have been deployed in sensitive stretches to ensure the free and safe passage of vehicles, safeguarding both the transportation of vital supplies and the well-being of those involved.

The recent achievements of the security forces in Manipur signify a step forward in the restoration of peace and stability in the region. With continued efforts and increased vigilance, authorities aim to create an environment that fosters growth, development, and a sense of security for all residents of Manipur.
