Rabha Tribal Organizations Boycott CM's 'Amrit Plantation' Program Over Delay in CBI Probe
Guwahati: The All Rabha Students' Union (ARSU) and other major Rabha tribal organizations, who are part of the Rabha Hasong Joint Movement Committee and allies of the BJP in Assam, boycotted the 'Amrit Plantation' program launched by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Governor Gulab Chand Kataria in Rabha heartland Chandubi, Kamrup on Thursday.

The Rabhas expressed their displeasure at the perceived delay in initiating a CBI investigation into the mysterious death of Sub-Inspector Junmoni Rabha, who was killed in a road accident last month. Chief Minister Sarma has stated that the process of handing over the case to the CBI usually takes 30 to 45 days.

Kamaleswar Rabha, President of the Barduar Bholagaon unit of ARSU, stated, "The government has been slow in bringing the CBI to investigate Junmoni Rabha's death. The Rabha community is deeply emotional about the loss of our sister, and it is suspected to be a cold-blooded murder. This is our primary concern at the moment."

In response, Chief Minister Sarma mentioned that if the CBI does not take over Junmoni's case within 45 days, he will personally meet with the Union Home Minister to address the issue.

Furthermore, the leading Rabha organizations are demanding the inclusion of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council areas in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution to gain more autonomy. "The BJP-led government has deceived us," added Rabha.
