As reported by the Odisha Government's Special Relief Commissioner's office, a total of 17 coaches from the two passenger trains were derailed, resulting in severe damage.
In a show of solidarity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the accident site via an Air Force chopper, landing near Bahanaga Bazar Station in Balasore district, approximately 170 kilometers north of Bhubaneswar.
