Imphal, Manipur: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has taken a significant step towards ensuring justice and maintaining law and order in Manipur. Six cases related to the recent incidents of violence in the state have been forwarded to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry. This decision came after the visit of the Home Minister to Manipur, where he pledged to investigate these cases thoroughly.
Among the six cases, five have been specifically identified from the registered cases, while one involves a general conspiracy. The CBI will form a special team to conduct a thorough investigation into these cases, aiming to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure that the rule of law prevails in the state.
In a separate development, significant progress has been made in recovering illegal weapons and explosives in various districts of Manipur. Over the past 24 hours, law enforcement agencies have successfully seized 57 arms, 1,588 rounds of ammunition, and 23 bombs in the districts of Imphal East, Kakching, Tengnoupal, and Bishnupur.
These recent recoveries add to the ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and explosives in the state. Since the commencement of these operations, a total of 953 arms, 13,351 rounds of ammunition, and 223 different kinds of bombs have been seized.
The recovery of such substantial quantities of arms and explosives is a significant achievement in maintaining the safety and security of Manipur.
