Manipur violence : RSS appeals for peace
RSS Urges Peace Amid Ongoing Violence in Manipur
The persistent violence plaguing Manipur over the past 45 days has sparked deep concern among citizens. The unsettling unrest, which originated from a protest rally held in Churachandpur on May 3, 2023 during the Lai Haraoba festival, is a distressing development. It is regrettable that the outbreak of violence and discord, disrupting the peaceful coexistence that the people of Manipur have enjoyed for centuries, shows no signs of abating.

In response to the crisis, the Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has come forward to stand in solidarity with the displaced individuals and other victims of the Manipur conflict, totaling over 50,000 during this period of immense suffering. The RSS firmly believes that violence and animosity have no place in a democratic society. It asserts that dialogue and a sense of brotherhood, fostered in a peaceful environment, are the only means to resolving any issue.

The RSS appeals to all parties involved to bridge the trust deficit, which lies at the root of the current crisis. Addressing the sense of insecurity and helplessness among the Meitei community, as well as acknowledging the genuine concerns of the Kuki community, are crucial steps toward resolving this strife. It requires comprehensive efforts from both communities to bring about a lasting solution.

Furthermore, the Sangh calls upon the government, including local administration, the police, the military, and central agencies, to take immediate and decisive action to quell the ongoing violence. They emphasize the importance of ensuring the seamless provision of relief materials to the displaced population, while simultaneously taking necessary measures to maintain peace and harmony.

The RSS also appeals to the entire civil society, political groups in Manipur, and the general public to undertake every possible initiative to put an end to the current state of chaos and violence. Their collective efforts should prioritize safeguarding human life and establishing lasting peace in Manipur.

Dattatreya Hosabale, Sarkaryavah of the Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has called for unity and concerted action in order to restore tranquility and harmony in Manipur. The RSS stands ready to assist in any way necessary to achieve this goal.

The appeal by the RSS serves as a reminder of the urgent need for peace and stability in Manipur, urging all stakeholders to come together and work towards a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
