MANIPUR: Manipur's Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh, has strongly condemned the recent violence in the Khamenlok area, where nine individuals lost their lives. In response, security forces have initiated search and combing operations to bring the culprits to justice.
Singh reassured the public that his government is committed to safeguarding the unity and integrity of the state. He emphasized that no actions contrary to the interests of the people will be taken.
"In order to apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime, search and combing operations have been carried out at various locations, including Kurangpat and Yaingangpokpi. The joint team of paramilitary forces and Manipur Police will take strict measures against the perpetrators," the Chief Minister stated in a recent announcement.
The tragic incident, which occurred during a gun battle near a Kuki village, has intensified tensions and sparked mob violence in other areas, including the capital city of Imphal. Clashes erupted on Thursday, resulting in the torching of several houses.
Search operations have been conducted in 41 hill villages and 39 villages in the adjacent valley areas, as part of efforts to restore peace and security.
The Chief Minister urged the public to have faith in the government's commitment to restoring normalcy in the state. He emphasized that the government will not yield any land to forces attempting to disrupt unity and integrity.
Singh expressed concern about vested interest groups attempting to depict the clashes as a conflict between two communities, thereby creating division among them. He urged the public to disregard rumors and unverified information that could further escalate tensions between different communities.
The Chief Minister also called upon the people to refrain from buying or selling land belonging to displaced individuals. Strict action will be taken against those involved in such activities.
The recent incidents of violence have prompted widespread condemnation and concern, with efforts being made to restore peace and harmony in Manipur. The government is focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens and maintaining the state's unity and integrity.
