Lack of Communication Sparks Uncertainty for SEBA Students' Exam Schedules
Confusion Surrounds Exam Dates for SEBA Students
GUWAHATI: SEBA students preparing for exams are facing uncertainty due to a lack of clear communication and information regarding examination dates.

According to an official notice issued by SEBA on July 7, students who did not pass the Class 10th exam this year are required to seek readmission in Class 10 for regular classes. The Assam education minister also confirmed this requirement through his official Twitter account on the same day. He stated, "Students who didn't pass the HSLC Examination, 2023 are required to re-admission in Class X for regular classes. Only then will they be allowed to appear in the subsequent examination."

Many student expressed their concerns, saying, "We are not receiving clear information about whether we have to seek readmission or if we can appear for compartmental exams."

"We have already applied for the compartmental exam, but now we are not being permitted to sit for the exam." However, the Department of Education, Government of Assam, has introduced the SEBA Compartmental & Advanced Supplementary Exam 2023, providing students with a second opportunity for success.

To be eligible for the Compartmental exams, candidates must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 170 or have failed to pass a maximum of three subjects. On the other hand, students who have failed in only one subject can choose to take the Advanced Supplementary Exams 2023, according to a SEBA official.

RC Jain, the chairperson of SEBA, addressed the confusion, stating, "There should not be any confusion because we have already provided the eligibility criteria for the candidates."

"Students who have failed in a maximum of three subjects and obtained 170 marks can appear for the compartmental exam," he added.

"The system has limitations, so not everyone will be able to appear," the SEBA official explained.

Despite communication from the education department, schools have still been unable to clarify the doubts of the students.
