Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Launches Tax Drive to Target Non-Compliant Traders
Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council to Conduct Tax Drive in Phuloni and Diphu Revenue Circles
DIPHU, ASSAM: The Taxation Department of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has announced a comprehensive Tax Drive aimed at identifying and addressing tax defaulting traders and businesses operating without the required Trading Licence. The drive will cover the Phuloni and Diphu revenue circles in Karbi Anglong and will take place from June 26, 2023, to July 27, 2023.

Under Section 3 of the Karbi Anglong District (Trading by Non-Tribal) Regulation, 1953, it is mandatory for traders and business establishments to obtain the proper Trading Licence from the competent authority of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. The Tax Drive will primarily focus on ensuring compliance with this regulation and verifying that the trade items correspond with those mentioned in the Trading Licence.

The Taxation Department has formed designated teams to carry out the Tax Drive efficiently. The teams will be responsible for inspecting businesses and traders within specific groups and on designated dates. The schedule for the Tax Drive has been outlined as follows:

Dhansiri: June 26, 2023, to June 30, 2023
Manja and Longnit: July 1, 2023, to July 5, 2023
Bakalia, Langhin, and Dokmoka: July 6, 2023, to July 7, 2023
Dengaon and Parokhuwa: July 10, 2023, to July 12, 2023
Howraghat: July 17, 2023, to July 18, 2023
Uttarborbil: July 24, 2023, to July 25, 2023

To facilitate the smooth execution of the Tax Drive, the Taxation Department has communicated the order to relevant authorities, including the Honorable Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, the Principal Secretary, the Deputy Commissioner, the Superintendent of Police, and other concerned officials. The aim is to ensure coordination and necessary action from all stakeholders.

The Taxation Department has appointed a team of inspectors, assistant inspectors, and constables for each group. These officials will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, verifying licenses, and taking necessary actions against non-compliant traders and businesses. The teams have been carefully organized to ensure efficient coverage and effective enforcement throughout the Tax Drive.

The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council urges all traders and business owners in Phuloni and Diphu revenue circles to comply with the Trading Licence requirements and cooperate with the Tax Drive.
