Guwahati: In preparation for the upcoming Ambubachi Mahayoga, a significant religious event held at Maa Kamakhya Devalaya, the Kamrup (Metropolitan) District administration has issued an advisory to ensure the smooth conduct of the festivities and the safety of devotees. The advisory encompasses important information and guidelines that devotees should be aware of during their visit to the temple.
Key highlights from the advisory are as follows:
1. Dates and Timings: The Ambubachi Mahayoga will take place from the midnight of June 22nd, 2023, until June 26th, 2023. The Prabritti, or the formal beginning of the event, will occur at 02:30:42 am on the night of June 22nd and 23rd.
2. Temple Door Closure: The door of Maa Kamakhya Devalaya will remain closed for devotees from June 23rd to June 25th, 2023. The door will reopen at 6 am on June 26th, 2023, following the Snan (bathing ritual) and Nitya Puja (daily worship).
3. VIP/VVIP Passes: There will be no VIP/VVIP passes or special visitor tickets available for purchase on June 26th and 27th, 2023.
4. Devotee Camps: Temporary camps have been established at Pandu Port, Kamakhya Railway station, and Sonaram field to accommodate devotees. These camps will provide adequate police security to ensure the safety of the devotees staying there.
5. Police Deployment: A sufficient number of police personnel will be deployed to maintain a secure environment for all devotees visiting Maa Kamakhya Devalaya during the Ambubachi Mahayoga. Mobile patrolling will be conducted along internal routes for enhanced safety.
6. Volunteer Engagement: Approximately 800 volunteers from Scouts & Guides, Civil Defense, and private security personnel will assist with security duties and crowd management throughout the Ambubachi Mahayoga.
7. Police Control Rooms: Three major police control rooms will operate round the clock to provide assistance to devotees. These control rooms will be located at Kamakhya Cutting, Prashaanti Lodge enroute to the temple, and the VIP parking area near the temple hilltop.
8. Police Assistance Booths: Eight police assistance booths will be set up along the route to the hilltop to offer additional police support to devotees.
9. Nearest Police Establishments: The nearest police establishments include Kamakhya Outpost, Jalukbari Police Station, Bharalumukh Police Station, and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), Guwahati. Their contact numbers are provided for any necessary assistance.
10. CCTV Surveillance: An ample number of CCTV cameras are being installed for enhanced surveillance and security.
11. Facilities for Devotees: Drinking water facilities, resting sheds, and medical booths will be available for the convenience of devotees. Footwear is not allowed in the temple premises, and designated stalls will be set up along the main route for devotees to store their footwear securely.
12. Transportation and Ferry Car Facilities: Devotees are required to travel on foot from the foothills to the temple premises, as there will be no transportation facilities provided. Limited ferry car facilities will be available only for sick, infirm, and physically challenged individuals.
13. Crowd Management: Devotees are requested to perform only one Parikrama (circumambulation) around the temple to avoid overcrowding and allow space for other devotees.
14. Record keeping: Hosts of devotees, including hotels, lodges, and private residences around the Kamakhya temple, are advised to maintain detailed records of temporary residents. This information will be helpful for any subsequent inquiries, and the Seva Setu Web Portal of Assam Police is recommended for this purpose.
15. No Smoking and Intoxication: The entire Nilachal hill is designated as a no-smoking zone. Individuals under the influence of alcohol or intoxicants will not be permitted to enter the temple premises, and legal action may be taken against them if necessary.
16. Timings of Entry: Devotees are allowed entry from 5 am to 9 pm. Entry from all entrances will be restricted between 9 pm and 5 am daily. Devotees are advised to plan their visit accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
