INS Brahmaputra Celebrating International Yoga Day
Indian Navy Promotes Yoga Worldwide with Ocean Ring of Yoga Event
Dubai: In celebration of the International Day of Yoga (IDY), the Indian Navy showcased its commitment to spreading the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam by participating in the Ocean Ring of Yoga event. Held at the historic docks of Mina Rashid in Dubai, the event received support from the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and DP World, a leading Emirati multinational logistics company.

The Ocean Ring of Yoga, a unique feature of this year's IDY, saw the Indian Navy and Merchant ships come together to organize Common Yoga Protocol demonstrations at ports and vessels of friendly nations across various oceans. This initiative aims to foster harmony and unity while highlighting the importance of yoga as a holistic practice.

The significance of the event at Mina Rashid extends beyond its picturesque setting. It represents the enduring and evolving relationship between India and the United Arab Emirates. Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Tolerance, kicked off the event with an inspiring message, followed by a keynote address from Dr. Thani bin Zeyoudi, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, who served as the Chief Guest.

Sunjay Sudir, the Ambassador of India to the UAE, echoed the sentiments expressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the profound significance of yoga for the world. The highlight of the event was the Common Yoga Protocol demonstration, where more than 200 sailors from INS Brahmaputra showcased their yoga skills and participated in the session.

In a momentous gesture, Commander Abhilash Tomy, the first Indian to successfully complete the Golden Globe Race, was honored by the Indian Ambassador, recognizing his remarkable achievement and inspiring journey.

The Ocean Ring of Yoga event is a testament to the Indian Navy's commitment to promoting yoga worldwide. Nineteen Indian Navy ships traveled over 35,000 kilometers as ambassadors of yoga, visiting ports in Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Oman, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates. The event not only strengthens diplomatic ties but also serves as a reminder of the universal values and benefits that yoga offers.

DP World, an Emirati multinational logistics company based in Dubai, played a significant role in supporting the event. Known for its expertise in cargo logistics, port terminal operations, maritime services, and free trade zones, DP World contributed to the success of the Ocean Ring of Yoga event.

The Indian Navy's Ocean Ring of Yoga event serves as a powerful symbol of unity and harmony, reinforcing the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means "the world is one family." By organizing these demonstrations on International Yoga Day, the Indian Navy aims to inspire people worldwide to embrace the ancient practice of yoga and its transformative impact on physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
