Guwahati: In a recent development, the Income Tax Department conducted a search operation at a well-established business establishment in Guwahati. The targeted location was the business establishment owned by local businessman Mukesh Chourasia, who primarily deals in tobacco and pan masala. The establishment is located in the Jail Road area of Fancy Bazar.
The search operation lasted for approximately four hours, during which a team of Income Tax Department officials meticulously examined all the relevant business documents. This action comes after a previous raid conducted in March this year at the residence of Guwahati contractor Anil Das.
Anil Das, who was responsible for the construction of multiple flyovers and footbridges in Guwahati, had his residence searched by Income Tax Department officials in the Hengrabari and Mirza areas. The search operation commenced at 11 am and was focused on House No. 22 in Hengrabari.
The exact reason behind these raids remains undisclosed at this time, and further information is yet to be revealed.
