New Delhi: In a recent announcement by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, the Government of India has granted promotions to 11 state civil servants from Assam. These officers have been elevated to the esteemed Indian Administrative Service (IAS) against the vacancies identified by the government.
The promotions were made in accordance with Rule 8(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954, along with Regulation 9(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955, and Rule 3 of the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Rules, 1954. The President of India has approved the appointment of the following Assam State Civil Service members to the Indian Administrative Service:
1. Monita Borgohain
2. Gitanjali Bhattacharjee
3. Md Shah Nawaz Choudhury
4. Fazlul Haque Choudhury
5. Kavyashree Mahanta
6. Smitakshi Baruah
7. Malavika Choudhury
8. Indreswar Kalita
9. Kausar Jamil Hilaly
10. Deba Kumar Kalita
11. Arundhati Chakraborty
These officers will serve on probation until further orders and have been allocated to the Joint Assam-Meghalaya Cadre as per Rule 5(1) of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954.
The promotion to the Indian Administrative Service marks a significant milestone in the careers of these civil servants, providing them with new avenues and responsibilities at the national level. As part of the prestigious IAS cadre, they will contribute to governance and administration in the country.
The selection process considered the vacancies that arose between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021, as per the Select List of 2021.
