In a recent press release, the GBs' Union highlighted their decision to suspend the ongoing protests against the merger after holding discussions with the Chief Minister of Nagaland on May 17. Subsequently, a follow-up meeting was organized on June 11, 2022, involving the Western Sumi Hoho and Chakhro Public Organization.
The press release emphasized the need for a comprehensive resolution to various issues outlined in a letter submitted to the Chief Minister through the Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister's Office. These issues include the recognition of unacknowledged villages within the Aqahuto area, boundary settlement concerns, the distinct recognition of the Dimasa Kachari tribe, instead of being categorized under the broader Kachari tribe, and other pertinent matters.
The GBs' Union, Dhansiripar sub-division, hopes that the state government will take swift action to address these matters in order to bring about a lasting resolution for all parties involved.
