Controversy Erupts as Committee Announces Plan for Mass Resignations from BJP in Manipur
Mass Resignations Threatened by 'War on BJP Non-Violence Campaign Committee Manipur'
The 'War on BJP Non-Violence Campaign Committee Manipur' announced its intention on Sunday to submit mass resignations from the primary membership of the party. In response, the state BJP filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the committee for allegedly misleading the public and attempting to defame the party.

Chingangbam Nandalala Angomcha, the convenor of the committee who claimed to be a BJP member, addressed the media at Manipur Press Club in Imphal. He stated that thousands of people have been stranded and are seeking shelter in Myanmar, Mizoram, and other states of the country due to the ongoing crisis.

Angomcha alleged that while the state's MLAs, ministers, and the chief minister were taking steps to protect themselves, they were neglecting the plight of those affected by the crisis. He reminded that as per the BJP's motto of 'nation first, party second, and self last,' every party member should prioritize the welfare of the nation. He criticized the MLAs and ministers for seeking an appointment with the prime minister in New Delhi while the Manipur crisis was being ignored during the prime minister's foreign visit.

Angomcha also questioned the intentions behind the Union Home Minister's visit to Manipur, during which he met various Civil Society Organization (CSO) leaders in different parts of the state. He claimed that there was a hidden agenda behind these separate meetings with stakeholders.

The committee has resolved to collectively resign from the BJP and has demanded the establishment of relief camps at the residences of MLAs and ministers, including the Chief Minister. They also called for the construction of houses for stranded individuals using funds that they claim were misused for personal gains.

Additionally, the committee demanded the withdrawal of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with Kuki militants, the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), and the inclusion of Meitei/Meeitei in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list.

Angomcha emphasized that the committee's decision was made without any influence from political parties, individuals, or groups.

In response to these developments, state BJP spokesperson Elangbam Johnson held a press conference at the party office. He accused various organizations, individuals, and groups of attempting to mislead the public in order to tarnish the party's image. Johnson revealed that Chief Minister N. Biren Singh had met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who assured him that President's Rule would not be imposed in Manipur.

Regarding the claims made by someone named Nandalala, who allegedly misrepresented themselves as a BJP member, Johnson clarified that the person was not associated with the BJP. He stated that a complaint had been filed against the so-called 'War on BJP Non-Violence Campaign Committee Manipur' at Imphal Police Station for attempting to mislead and defame the party.

Johnson urged the public not to be swayed by baseless allegations or claims and appealed to the party's respective mandals not to take any actions without consulting the state BJP head office.
