NAGAON: A team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrived at the residence of Junmoni Rabha, a deceased police officer, in Guwahati, Assam on Friday to gather information from her family as part of their ongoing investigation. Acting on the directives of DIG Lovely Katiyar, the CBI officials conducted interviews with Junmoni's family members to delve deeper into the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death.
Sources revealed that a group of Assam police officers also reached the location to assist in the investigation. Yesterday, a separate team from the CBI had visited the accident site in Jakhalabandha to initiate their probe into the case. During their visit, they meticulously examined the two vehicles involved in the accident that claimed the life of Sub-Inspector Junmoni Rabha.
The CBI team, led by DIG Lovely Katiyar, promptly arrived in Guwahati from Delhi after the case was transferred to the agency on Wednesday. The Central Government, upon the request of the State Government of Assam, assigned the investigation of Junmoni Rabha's death to the CBI.
A notification issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions stated, "In accordance with the provisions of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946 (25 of 1946), and with the consent of the State Government of Assam, the Central Government has extended the powers and jurisdiction of the members of the Delhi Special Police Establishment to the entire state of Assam for the purpose of investigating four cases."
