BSF Constable Martyred in Clash with Suspected "Kuki Miscreants" in Manipur

In Short: A Border Security Force (BSF) constable, Ranjit Yadav, was killed in an exchange of fire with suspected "Kuki miscreants" in Serou, Manipur. The incident occurred early on June 6, 2023. Two personnel from the Assam Rifles were also injured and have been evacuated for medical treatment. The BSF praised Yadav for his bravery during the incident. Manipur:  Border Security Force (BSF) Constable Ranjit Yadav was tragically killed during a clash with suspected "Kuki miscreants" in Serou, Manipur. The incident occurred at 4:15 am on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Constable Yadav sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to Jivan Hospital in Kakching, where he was sadly pronounced dead. 


According to sources from the Press Trust of India (PTI), two personnel from the Assam Rifles also suffered gunshot wounds in the Serou area of Manipur. The injured individuals have been air-evacuated to Mantripukhri, and search operations are currently underway. The Army's SpearCorps, headquartered in Dimapur, provided this information via their official Twitter account.

The BSF stated that Constable Ranjit Yadav was deployed at Serou Practical High School under the jurisdiction of the Sugnu police station in Kakching district, Manipur. The BSF commended Yadav for his exceptional bravery, dedication, and devotion to duty during the exchange of fire, as the suspected Kuki miscreants unleashed a hail of indiscriminate and heavy gunfire towards BSF troops.
