BJP Leader Found Dead on National Highway in Assam's Goalpara District
GOALPARA: A BJP leader, Jonali Nath, was found dead near National Highway 17 in Assam's Goalpara district on June 12, according to the police. Her body was discovered in the Salpara area under the Krishnai police station jurisdiction. The police suspect that she was killed elsewhere and her body was subsequently dumped. The family of the deceased has alleged that it was a planned murder, while the police stated that they are investigating the case from all angles.

Jonali Nath, who served as the District Secretary of the BJP in Goalpara, was found deceased in the Krishnai Salpar area late on Sunday night. Her family informed the police after her phone became unreachable, and her body was later discovered. Family members claimed that there were several visible injuries on her body, indicating a brutal murder followed by the disposal of her remains.

The Goalpara Police has initiated an investigation into the incident and has detained two suspects, as per officials familiar with the matter. BJP leader Ranoj Pegu expressed condolences and called for a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served. Assam minister Ranoj Pegu also conveyed his sympathies, promising that those responsible for this heinous act would face consequences and justice would be served.
