GUWAHATI: Miraculous Survival: Man Found Alive Under Bush After Train Accident

In a remarkable turn of events, a man was discovered alive underneath a thick bush near an overturned coach of the Coromandel Express, two days after the tragic train accident. The call for help, feeble and weak due to injury and dehydration, caught the attention of relief workers who had been diligently searching inside the coach. The location of the survivor, hidden beneath the bush, had remained unnoticed until now.

Expressing astonishment at the man's endurance, an anonymous police officer from the Soro police station stated, "We were surprised to find him alive after 48 hours of such a devastating train accident. With the assistance of social workers, we immediately called for help and transported him to the community center in Soro. After providing him with essential first aid, we swiftly transferred him to the Balasore district headquarters hospital."

At the Balasore district headquarters hospital, the man, identified as 35-year-old Dulal Mazumdar from Assam, mustered the strength to confirm his identity. It remains uncertain whether his fellow passengers from Assam survived the accident or suffered injuries. "He was in the general compartment of the Coromandel Express when the incident occurred. Presumably, he was thrown off and ended up in the bush. It is truly a miracle that he managed to survive for two days," remarked Dr. Subhajit Giri of the Balasore district headquarters hospital.

On Monday morning, Mazumdar was transferred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for further medical treatment of his head injury. Although he remains traumatized and exhibits incoherent speech, the medical staff at AIIMS assured that he is under close observation and receiving the necessary care. Rajkishore Dash, the PRO of AIIMS, stated, "We are attending to his injuries and closely monitoring his condition."

In a continued effort to ensure no survivors or bodies were overlooked, local police and railway personnel meticulously combed the area once again on Monday afternoon. Their search aimed to bring closure to the devastating accident that occurred three days prior.

This incredible story of survival serves as a testament to the indomitable human spirit and the dedication of rescue teams. As the investigation into the train accident continues, authorities will work tirelessly to determine the cause and take necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
