 Assam Government Holds Meeting to Address Tribal Status Issue

Guwahati: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Government of Assam has been dedicated to promoting peace, brotherhood, and harmony among the diverse indigenous communities in the region. As part of these efforts, a crucial meeting was chaired today by Minister Pijush Hazarika and Minister Ranoj Pegu at the Assam Administrative Staff College.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Coordination Committee of Tribal Organizations of Assam, the All Assam Tai Ahom Students Union, and other organizations. The primary agenda of the gathering was to address the long-standing demand for granting Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Tai Ahom community.

During the meeting, the ministers engaged in constructive discussions with the tribal organizations, listening to their concerns and aspirations. The participants emphasized the need to secure the future of these tribal organizations and ensure their well-being.
