GUWAHATI: Assam Power Distribution Company (APDCL) to Increase Electricity Tariffs, Impacting Residents

Residents of Assam are bracing themselves for another price hike as the Assam Power Distribution Company (APDCL) announces plans to raise monthly electricity tariffs in the state. The proposed increase ranges from 30 paise to 70 paise per unit of electricity consumed.

Under the subsidised Jeevan Dhara scheme, consumers can expect a tariff hike of 30 paise per unit, while other consumers will face an increase of 70 paise. This comes after a similar price hike proposal in January, where APDCL sought to raise electricity rates by Re 1 per unit, pending a decision by the Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The upcoming tariff hike adds to the financial burden on residents, raising concerns about the affordability of electricity for households in Assam.
