NEW DELHI: Following the aftermath of Cyclone Biporjoy, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Gujarat to assess the situation and review the relief and rehabilitation work undertaken by the state administration. Shah held a video conference meeting with the Collectors of the affected districts at the Bhuj Collector's Office, commending their efforts in handling the crisis.
Cyclone Biporjoy, which struck Gujarat with its destructive force, left a trail of destruction in its wake. In the face of this calamity, the state administration swiftly mobilized its resources to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected population. Recognizing the proactive measures taken by the Gujarat government, Amit Shah expressed his appreciation for the exemplary work done by the administration before, during, and immediately after the cyclone.
During the video conference meeting, the Home Minister closely examined the relief and rehabilitation measures implemented by the Collectors in the affected districts. He inquired about the progress made in restoring basic amenities such as electricity, water supply, and communication networks. Additionally, he sought information on the efforts undertaken to provide medical aid, shelter, and food to the affected individuals and families.
Shah also emphasized the importance of expediting the assessment of damage caused by the cyclone. He stressed the need for a comprehensive and accurate estimation of losses, including infrastructure damage, loss of livelihoods, and the impact on agriculture. This data will be crucial in formulating effective relief and reconstruction plans to facilitate the speedy recovery of the affected areas.
The Home Minister assured the Collectors of the central government's support in the form of resources and financial assistance to aid the state's rehabilitation efforts.
