Guwahati, Assam:  A major stride in cancer diagnostics and treatment is taking shape as the construction of the North East's first Molecular Oncology Laboratory at the State Cancer Institute under Guwahati Medical College is underway. The laboratory was recently inspected by key officials, including the Director of the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), the Additional Director of DME, the Principal of Guwahati Medical College (GMC), the Superintendent of Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), and the Director and Superintendent of the State Cancer Institute (SCI). Their presence underscores the importance and commitment of the government to improving cancer care and research in the North East.

During the inspection, a meeting was chaired to discuss the laboratory's progress and strategies for making it operational at the earliest.
