Assam Forms Adivasi Welfare and Development Council for Holistic Growth of Indigenous Community

Guwahati: In a significant move towards promoting the comprehensive development and growth of the Adivasi community, one of the major ethnic groups in Assam, the state government has established the "Adivasi Welfare and Development Council." The interim council, which will play a pivotal role in addressing the needs and concerns of the Adivasi community, is set to be officially inaugurated in July.
Highlighting the government's commitment to the welfare of the Adivasi community, a meeting was chaired by the authorities yesterday. The meeting brought together elected officials including the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Deputy Chief Executive Member (Dy CEM), and Executive Members (EMs) of the council. The primary agenda was to discuss the operational aspects of the council, including its functioning, required offices, and staff.

The presence of prominent figures such as ADGP Shri Hiren Nath and Principal Secretary of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Shri Mukesh Sahu, further emphasized the government's dedication to ensuring the success of the Adivasi Welfare and Development Council.

During the meeting, detailed deliberations took place on various crucial aspects pertaining to the council's functioning. Key topics of discussion included strategies for efficient governance, the formulation of policies and programs to uplift the Adivasi community, and the allocation of necessary resources to facilitate their development.

The establishment of the Adivasi Welfare and Development Council signifies the government's recognition of the unique challenges faced by the Adivasi community and their need for specific support mechanisms. By providing a dedicated platform for the community's representation and addressing their concerns, the council aims to ensure their holistic growth and overall empowerment.

The council is expected to work towards promoting educational opportunities, healthcare access, skill development programs, and employment opportunities for the Adivasi community. It will also focus on preserving and promoting their rich cultural heritage, languages, and traditional practices.

The formation of the interim council is seen as a positive step towards fostering inclusivity and social justice in Assam. The government's proactive efforts to involve the Adivasi community in decision-making processes and provide them with a voice in policy matters reflect a commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable society.

As the council's swearing-in ceremony approaches, the Adivasi community eagerly anticipates the council's official launch, which will mark the beginning of a new chapter in their journey towards progress and development. The collaborative efforts of the elected officials, government authorities, and the Adivasi community are expected to pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous future.
