Bhopal: In a courageous act, a 15-year-old girl from Kolar locality has reported a case of sexual assault, where she was allegedly blackmailed by a 19-year-old youth. The accused threatened to share explicit photos and videos of her on social media if she resisted his advances.
The young survivor, a student in Class 10, confided in her mother, who accompanied her to the Kolar police station on Sunday to file a complaint. Swift action was taken by the authorities, who promptly registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The accused, identified as Sandeep Verma, a 19-year-old driver from Sagar, was apprehended soon after.
To safeguard the survivor's privacy, her identity has been withheld, as directed by the Supreme Court to protect the victims of sexual assault.
