Revolutionary Rail Project: Sivok-Rangpo Line Sikkim to get Railway connectivity soon
India to Enhance Security with Sivok-Rangpo Rail Project in Eastern Region
Siliguri: India is poised to bolster its security status in the eastern region with the upcoming Sivok-Rangpo Rail Project, a 45 km railway line initiative. This ambitious project, featuring numerous tunnels and 13 bridges, will connect West Bengal's Sivok to Sikkim's Rangpo. After its initiation in 2009, the project is expected to be completed by December 2024, according to authorities.

Apart from providing a shorter journey for the people, the Sivok-Rangpo Rail Project will significantly improve safety standards compared to other transportation options in the hilly region. With its coverage spanning across Sikkim and West Bengal, the project is deemed crucial for facilitating the Army's access to border areas.

During a recent inspection of the area, the Project Director, accompanied by a prominent BJP leader, provided insights into the project's progress. "The project encompasses a length of approximately 45 km and encompasses five stations, with a total of 14 tunnels and 13 bridges. Construction work commenced here in 2010. Given that hilly areas are prone to landslides, this tunnel will ensure year-round connectivity," stated the Project Director.

As part of the Indian government's plan, the railway line will extend to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. The project holds strategic significance for enhancing security measures in the region. Previously lacking in infrastructure development, the Modi government has taken determined steps to overcome hurdles and initiate this project, which is valued at over Rs 12,000 crore. The completion of this endeavor will greatly benefit the Indian Army.
