Cabinet Reshuffle in Assam: Additional Responsibilities Assigned to Ministers
GUWAHATI: ASSAM witnessed a cabinet reshuffle on Monday as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma allocated additional responsibilities to cabinet ministers Jogen Mohan and Nandita Gorlosa. According to an official notification, Jogen Mohan, who already holds the portfolios of Revenue and Disaster Management and Hill Areas Development, was assigned the Department of Mines and Minerals in addition to his existing roles.

Meanwhile, Nandita Gorlosa, who currently handles the portfolios of Power, Cooperation, Mines and Minerals, and Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture (except for Directorates of Library and Museum), was given additional responsibilities. The notification stated that the Sports and Youth Welfare department would be entrusted to Nandita Gorlosa, along with the oversight of the Directorate of Archaeology under the Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture department.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself will take charge of the Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture department, excluding the responsibilities of the Directorate of Library and Museum and the Directorate of Archaeology.

The reshuffle comes as the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government enters its second year in power, demonstrating the administration's commitment to effective governance and optimizing ministerial roles. The reallocation of responsibilities aims to ensure efficient functioning and focused attention on key sectors.

The Chief Minister and the newly assigned ministers are expected to bring their expertise and vision to the respective departments, working towards the progress and development of Assam. The reshuffle marks a strategic move to strengthen the state government's ability to address challenges and deliver on its commitments to the people of Assam.
