Army Chief's Visit to Manipur Coincides with Large-Scale Combing Operations to Counter Insurgency
IMPHAL: Massive combing operations have been initiated by the Army and Assam Rifles in and around the Imphal Valley in Manipur. This development coincides with the visit of Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande to Manipur and the upcoming visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the state. The operations aim to track down insurgents who are believed to be active in the region.
The 3rd Corps of the Army has stated that the combing operations are specifically targeting vulnerable flashpoints and the higher reaches surrounding the Imphal Valley, including areas such as Kangchuk, Motbung, Saikul, Pukhao, and Sagolmang. In these operations, the Army is utilizing state-of-the-art technology, advanced weaponry, equipment, and other force multipliers to effectively navigate the forested and mountainous terrain.

The Defense Public Relations Officer (PRO), Lt. Col. M, emphasized that the Army and Assam Rifles have been working relentlessly to prevent any loss of life. Their concerted efforts on Friday night successfully averted potential casualties in one village each in the Churachandpur and Imphal East districts.

Lt. Col. M further stated that these combing operations are part of the ongoing efforts by the Army and Assam Rifles to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur. Their aim is to create a secure environment for the residents of the state and ensure stability in the region.
